29. At 1608hrs, E1905, R1908 & M81 were alerted for
a car into a utility pole in the 900 block of South Michigan.
E1905 arrived on scene to find a vehicle into a now broken pole with
minor injuries. R1908 was cancelled as it arrived on scene.
The Engine secured the hazards, helped with medical treatment and
stood by until the arrival of American Electric Power. The driver
was transported to HMC-Jackson by the Medic and the crews returned
to service around 1700hrs.

May 2. At 1959hrs, Wellston FFs were toned out to a dryer
fire inside the residence at 591 West Broadway. E1905 arrived
on scene minutes later to find a 2 story, wood frame, single family
dwelling with smoke showing. E1905 stretched a preconnect and
began fire attack while E1906 started ventilation, salvage and overhaul.
The fire was knocked down in less than 5 minutes and the call was
held to E1905 & E1906. Crews remained on scene for a little
less than an hour before returning to service. There were no
injuries reported. Fire damage was held to the room of origin
with smoke damage throughout the house.

May 10. We would like to take the time
to congratulate FF Ben Matthews on his successful completion of the
National Registry EMT test. Its nice to add yet another medically
trained FF to our department. Congrats, Ben, we all knew you
could do it! Well, most of us thought you might pass...
Okay, we really didn't think it would happen... But, good job
anyway!
