Welcome FF Holzapfel, Congratulations FF/EMT-Basic Kisor
September 11. We would like to take
the time to welcome back FF Jason Holzapfel. As of 9/1/06, he
has rejoined our department. Jason was with us for about a year
and is now back on board. He's already trained and will start
responding immediately.
Congratulations FF/EMT-Basic Richie Kisor.
Richie found out today that he passed his National Registry test and
can now start rendering medical care (boy isn't that scary!).
Richie spent the last 3 months completing the class and his training
will be invaluable to the department and the citizens of Wellston!
Crew Stands-by for Possible HAZMAT
September 14. The station
got a call from the Sheriff's Office around 1545hrs today requesting
an Engine for a possible HAZMAT incident at Rumpke on St Rt 32.
E1905, with 4 firefighters, and SRU1910, with A/C Pelletier, proceeded
to the scene. Once they arrived, they were advised that a driver
developed symptoms from an unknown substance in his truck. E1905
pulled a protective handline and stood-by while JCSO's technicians
identified the substance. It was determined to be non-toxic
and the crew picked up. They were back in service by 1644hrs.
The station had 6 FFs ready for any other emergencies in the City.

Members Attend Rope Rescue Class
September 16-17. 3 members attended
a rope rescue class in Jackson this weekend. The class was taught
be members of the Westerville Fire Department. Students started with
basic knots, worked their way through rappelling and climbing, and
ended the class with static lines and haul systems. The class was
a refresher for some and completely new to others. This class is a
perfect example of how our members donate their time to better themselves
for the community! Thanks to the instructors and the students.
Special thanks to Lt Aaron Dupree who set-up, and payed the expenses
for, the class.
